Meet Dr. Kathy Mitchener

“Care is not just about treating the disease. It is about helping each pet feel better, move better, and live more comfortably.”

Dr. Kathy Mitchener, DVM

Dr. Kathryn Mitchener has spent her career helping pets and their families through some of the most difficult medical challenges a pet can face. With nearly four decades of veterinary experience and a deep focus on cancer care, she brings both advanced medical knowledge and genuine compassion to every patient she treats.

Dr. Mitchener earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 1985.

Shortly after graduating, she returned to the University of Tennessee to pursue advanced training in oncology and internal medicine. This residency allowed her to deepen her understanding of cancer biology, diagnostic imaging, and treatment planning for complex medical cases.

Her early focus on oncology helped shape a career dedicated to helping pets facing cancer live longer, healthier, and more comfortable lives.
